What 10 rolls and two weeks in Greece looks like. These islands have such an effortless beauty about them. I mostly spent my time having slow morning walks with a coffee from a small coffee shop on the Caldera or hiking down the 200 stone steps (phew) to Ammoudi Bay to look at the donkeys and watch people cliff jump. I became obsessed with the churches and perfectly faded colors of the buildings, stopping about 20 times a day. I wish I could have brought home one of the vintage doors for my house but will have to settle for these photos of them for now, particularly loving the Boatbuilder’s house with the blue and white diamond design. One thing I wish I had captured was this painter’s shop where he did did portraits of saints or religious icons that he made using hand-mixed egg tempura paints and gold foil and each piece would take him months. We stayed in Oia in the most perfect Airbnb that was in the Cycladic style and made out of stone. On one of our last nights our hosts took us to the best restaurant in Santorini with the most authentic Greek food. Still thinking about the complimentary shots of ouzo and house made cake with raspberry compote. I can’t wait to go back and visit a few other islands especially Milos and Naxos.
