The cats of Santorini.

During my time in Greece I became inspired by the strays all around the island. They were all so friendly and unique with their own little personalities. The house we rented came with our very own cat, a calico who was always greeting us after day of exploring or sitting on my lap while watching a sunset. Our hosts had named her Amy and it’s almost too hilarious to change. We went to the grocery store and bought cans of tuna which she happily accepted. Eventually I asked our Airbnb hosts if Amy had a home and they told me about how they are moving to Athens for a few months in the winter and have been desperately trying to get someone to take her in as they have grown to love her too but didn’t have the space for another stray in their house. I felt like after two weeks I wanted to be that home for her. I worked with a local vet to get her a passport and I literally carried her all the way back to the vineyard. She is becoming friends with my Australian shepherd and has very quickly claimed her spot in my bed or on top of the piano where she can watch everyone.
